Cary Hill 1741 is a charming, 18th-century venue set in the pastoral countryside of Charles City County, convenient to Williamsburg and Richmond,Virginia. The original colonial manor house has been lovingly maintained and elegantly decorated with period antiques, reflecting its successive owners and their affinity for history and art. These lush grounds also include a deep swimming pool with an expansive bluestone slate surround and pool house lounge (The Folly), making it perfect for outdoor entertaining.

This historic home and grounds also feature a beautiful three-bedroom guest cottage, Holly Hill, that has been a popular retreat and wedding package addition for our guests.

Cary Hill 1741's elegant ballroom and parlor create the perfect backdrop for your reception or event, providing your guests with an upscale atmosphere to unwind and enjoy your company on your Special Day. The iron fireplace back, dated 1741, is still in place. The warming closet, from which refreshments have been served for generations, is still in use for parties and gatherings. 

Nature lovers and fisherman will also find their own personal solace right outside the Cary Hill 1741 grounds. Chickahominy Wildlife Management Area on Morris Creek is a stone’s throw from our property; boat rentals are also available at River’s Rest Marina nearby. Kayak and canoe rentals are just minutes away at the Chickahominy Riverfront Park. For history lovers, the James River Plantations are worth the short drive east or west on our beautiful Virginia State Byway, Route 5.
